Animation Project

The purpose of the gallery and the artwork is to show the effect of pop culture on the arts. Artists all have their own way to portray their favorite shows, memories from childhood, or scenes from a movie. All artists I gathered from Instagram. I have been a fan of their work and their style. I think it’s important to bring recognition to modern artists because of the commentary they make about a society which is important for a future society to see art the same way we see art from the past.
For the first area of the gallery, I want to introduce the artist Andreea Dumuta (galatixy_illustrations) who is a digital illustrator and designer who will have the opening pieces of the gallery. I find that her pieces are important for a show focused on pop culture, games, and tv shows because her artwork is illustrating important pop culture moments and memories such as the Netflix show Squid Game which has adults play children’s games with a deadly twist. You also see more pop culture references to Furby and Teletubbies which are also part of pop culture historical moments. Commentary through art on topics such as shows or toys is important because it really explains how important these moments in pop culture were because of the hold they had on people.
The next artist is Chan (flesh.png) and they are a digital illustrator and designer. Their work primarily focuses on work-based or depicting scenes and moments from popular films. Some of the pieces are chose come from very popular and important movies in pop culture. The first piece comes from Dune, the John Wick series, and Marvel’s Spiderman No Way Home. Their pieces are important because all 3 films/series have cult followings and impactful moments in pop culture especially Spiderman who broke box office numbers and saw the 3 Spidermen on the same screen for the first time.
Our next artist Choo (choodraws) who is a digital illustrator and designer. Their work primarily focuses on video game art. All three games have impactful moments in pop culture starting with Katamari Damacy. This game came out in 2004 on the PS2 and gained widespread popularity around the world. To this day it still has a large following and is part of pop culture history. The two other games they made the art of are Hades and Bloodbourne. These 2 games have also gained a cult following and have already created important moments in pop culture and video game history. The final 2 pieces I wish to include come from a very popular and often referenced anime Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure which like the others has a cult following and a place in pop culture since the 1980s.
Angle (hellothisisangle) is a digital illustrator, designer, and creator of a popular Webtoon Devil is a Handsome Man. Their work consists of of characters from popular games and shows. He first one is from Steven Universe which was a popular during the 2010s and had consistent events at conventions such as Comic Con. Their other piece is from Animal Crossing. The game was already popular but over the last few years it has been called the game that helped everyone during the pandemic.

Printmaking Lesson Plan- Printmaking Through Nature
PODCAST1) How was this process fun/not fun/hard/easy in learning something new?
For me this process was hard. I had a lot of technical issues with Canva & Audacity because I had to convert files like my audio file or with Canva my audio, slides or photos wouldn't load. 2) What parts of this process were the most challenging? The most challenging for me was trying to time my video and getting used to using Canva. 3) How do you think you might use this in your future classroom (as either a teacher-led component, or a student project)? In the future I might use the podcast assignment to have students speak about important issues students might be facing or things going on in their community. I would use it to create awareness. |

BITMOJI CLASSROOM
The process was fairly easy to do but there were issues with lag the more and more that I added resources to my slide. Overall I tried to organize it and make the images that I used as the clickable item for my resources be fun and related. Like for still life ideas I used a fruit bowl or timed drawing prompts I used a funny Statue of David.
APP REVIEW: STOP MOTION STUDIO
|
For my app review assignment, I wanted to review the app called Stop Motion Studio. It’s a stop motion app that is available on iOS and android. The app is free but it does have features that can be bought. Another option is creating a stop motion video through it and exporting it to iMovie, Adobe Premiere, or any video editing app. Personally, I have it on Android because I use a Samsung phone. I first used the app in my introduction to animation class where we created and edited sound to a stop motion video. I created a stop motion video and later edited audio that I downloaded online and timed and added to the video. To be able to create a video on the app, you have to click on “New Movie” on the home screen. From there once you open it you can take photos, add images, title and credit screens, audio, and take photo stills. Once you open the camera you can also choose to set a timer or have it set up so you have to click the capture button I enjoyed using the app because it takes all the photos through the app and then puts them together as a video. I like that it does this because you don’t take up a lot of space taking a lot of stills and using up space in your phone. The app also makes it less confusing in creating a stop motion film. I was worried to start this project because I had never done stop motion animation before. There are a lot of positives but I also found some negatives with the app as much as I had liked it. One of the things I didn’t like was that some features were behind a paywall. If you wanted features like adding sound or title and credit screens to name a few you had to pay a monthly subscription of $4.99. I think that for all the features that you get it is a good price. The problem is that it isn’t worth getting unless you would use it all the time. In the app, I made a stop motion video with audio. In the video, I am doing homework and then I have to take a break after my alarm rings. On my break, I am trying to pick a book From the book characters say popular audio bits from The Princess Bride and Lord of the Rings. In the end, I pick Lord of the Rings to read. The audio was added later through the video editing application Adobe Premiere. |
